Twenty-two children from Lang Nu visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum for the first time.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Kind Deeds Bus organized a special trip to bring 22 orphaned children whowere severely affected by the Lang Nu landslide (September 2024) to visit Hanoi. This was their first-ever spring trip together.
The first stop on their journey was the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh. For these children from remote areas, stepping into the Mausoleum was a moment of great honor and pride, as they had only seen this sacred site in books and newspapers before. During their visit, they were solemnly welcomed by the Guard Command of the Mausoleum. The children watched a documentary on President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career and were honored to receive Ho Chi Minh's badges.
During a gathering, one of the children spoke on behalf of the group: "Visiting President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum is a great honor for us. We feel that everyone is always there to support and care for children affected by natural disasters," one of the children said.
Teacher Pham Duc Vinh, Principal of Phuc Khanh No. 1 Primary and Secondary School, Bao Yen, Lao Cai, said, "Knowing that we would visit President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, many students woke up very early to prepare with their teachers. On this trip, they saw the Mausoleum with their own eyes and witnessed the deep love the entire nation has for President Ho Chi Minh".
After the Mausoleum visit, the 22 children and their teachers continued their journey onto Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential Palace, and Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, capturing memorable photos of their first visit to the capital.
Hundreds of "Grandchildren" at Marie Curie School Welcome 22 "Grandchildren" from Lang Nu
The Kind Deeds Bus continued its journey, taking the children to Marie Curie School – the school of "Grandfather" Nguyen Xuan Khang in Hanoi.
In September 2024, educator Nguyen Xuan Khang decided to adopt 22 orphaned children who had suffered losses due to the Lang Nu landslide. On December 22, 2024, at the inauguration of the Lang Nu resettlement area, he traveled hundreds of kilometers to visit them and officially welcome them as his "grandchildren".
Upon hearing about the Lang Nu children's visit, hundreds of Marie Curie students arrived early, forming two lines and waving to welcome them to a spring celebration they had prepared. The children from Lang Nu enjoyed vibrant performances, received gifts from their older peers, and participated in activities such as painting and sack races.
A special surprise was a birthday party organized by the Marie Curie students for the Lang Nu children whose birthdays fall in January and February.

Although many of the Lang Nu children do not have a family by their side this Tet, the warmth, care, and support from the community have given them a joyful and comforting Lunar New Year. With the love of their extended family and society, a brighter future awaits them.
The Kind Deeds Bus will participate in the Tet Kind Deeds Gala, which will have the theme "Love You So Much, Vietnam." The program will be broadcast at 8:30 PM on February 2, 2025 (the fifth day of Tet) on VTV1 and the VTV Go app. Stay tuned!
