More than 100 delegates attended the event, including representatives from the diplomatic missions of Australia, the United States, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, domestic and foreign organizations, and Vietnamese ministries.
Delegates at the event were briefed on the Convention against Torture and its implementation. The UN Convention Against Torture was ratified in 1984 by 164 states. The convention consists of 33 articles, including important provisions such as the Basic Rights of the Deceased Person, detention periods, solitary confinement, or emergency cases.
The Ministry of Public Security also introduced the Report on Vietnam's Implementation of the Convention and 14 appendices submitted to the UN Committee on Torture. The workshop was also heard by local and foreign participants to complete Vietnam's report.
