VTV.vn - Italian Ministry of Transport has launched an investigation into toll-road operator Atlantia over the collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa on August 14th.

The incident has caused 39 deaths, and around 10 to 20 missing. Atlantia might be facing severe penalties of up to 170 million euro, and has their license revoked.

Italian Ministry of Transport said it had given the company 15 days to show it had previously met all its contractual obligations for the proper functioning of the bridge.

The company was also requested to rebuild the bridge at its own expense. The Italian Minister of the Interior has also asked the company to pay 570 million US dollars to help families of victims and local authorities to mitigate damages.
