Several reservoirs in Hue are increasing water discharge ahead of forecast heavy rain from October 5 to 12, aiming to create more storage capacity, protect dam safety and reduce downstream flood risks.

The A Lin B1 hydropower reservoir will gradually increase spillway discharge from 7 p.m. on October 5, potentially reaching 400 cubic metres per second. A Luoi reservoir will begin increasing discharge from 1p.m. on October 6, potentially reaching 600 cubic metres per second.

Reservoir operators have been instructed to alert local authorities and downstream communities to prepare for possible flooding. The releases are intended to create additional storage capacity ahead of the expected floods and ensure dam and downstream safety.
