On June 29, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat paid a field trip to the hi-tech park to accelerate its handover to Hanoi.
According to the Politburo’s Resolution No.15, dated May 5, 2022, a model city directly under the Hanoi capital in the western region (Hoa Lac and Xuan Mai regions) will be built with the function of developing science and technology, education and training, and services. This will be an important condition to foster the development of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in the future when it is handed over to Hanoi.
The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee said that 25 years after the government’s decision to establish Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, it has so far attracted 101 projects with a total registered capital of about 97 trillion VND. Four large universities also poured investment into the hi-tech park, creating hi-tech human resources for the nation.
Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that the ministry would work with Hanoi authorities to soon issue a decision on the hand-over of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in its original state to Hanoi. A decree on hi-tech parks is currently being finalised with many new policies to support the development of hi-tech parks in localities across the country.
Secretary Dinh Tien Dung said that although the hi-tech park has been adjusted many times in terms of planning to meet practical requirements, it still maintains its set development goals and has achieved certain initial successes.
However, Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park still faces many difficulties in terms of land clearance, investment resources, and technical infrastructure.
