Hoa Binh province response to flood and landslide - The effect of the tropical depression combined with the east wind has been bringing heavy rains to northern and north-central provinces in the last 2 days.

Some areas there have received 100- 200mm of rain. The downpours and rise in river levels have caused dykes to breach and set off landslides, damaging many houses in some places. Yesterday the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant had to open 8 sluice gates. Officials from the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control have come down to check the rescue work. Here is a report from Hoa Binh Province.

Floods and heavy rains have also caused traffic jams on Highway 6 between Hanoi and Hoa Binh. Hoa Binh Province is taking active measures to ensure the safety of local people and their property, move people out of areas facing a high risk of landslides to safer place and search for missing people.
