The event saw the attendance of over 1,500 delegates from 45 provinces and cities in Vietnam, along with 28 countries and territories throughout the world.
Returning after a two-year hiatus, ITE HCMC 2020 continues to affirm the appeal of a leading international trade and travel event in the lower Mekong region, thereby helping to accelerate the recovery of the tourism industry.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Chairman Phan Van Mai noted the strong growth of Vietnam’s tourism since the full re-opening in mid-March, with domestic travellers up 155.7% to reach 79.8 million in the first eight months of 2022.
Ho Chi Minh City alone welcomed 18.15 million domestic and foreign tourists and had its tourism revenue increase by 90.6%.
He stated that as a major international travel event in Vietnam and the region, ITE HCMC 2020 will contribute to the recovery of tourism in Vietnam and the region in the remaining months of the year.
Visitors to the expo will have the opportunity to receive attractive deals offered by travel agencies, airlines, hotels and restaurants.
