The conference approved reports on the economic, cultural and social situation of the city in 2020, key solutions and tasks for 2021; a draft action plan to implement the Resolutions of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, 2020 - 2025 tenure and a draft programme on inspection and supervision for the entire tenure.
In 2020, the city’s socio-economic situation has achieved many remarkable results. The GRDP growth rate increased by 1.39% over the same period last year, while social security has been maintained.
The conference discussed and clarified the results achieved and the causes of the limitations and weaknesses. In 2021, the city selected the theme "A year of building urban government and improving the investment environment"; setting out 20 development targets, continuing to prevent and combat the COVID-19 epidemic and striving to achieve a GRDP growth rate of over 6%.
Speaking at the conference, Politburo member and Head of the City National Assembly delegation Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested Ho Chi Minh City should drastically implement its programme on building new-style rural areas; and focus on improving the investment environment.
In his remarks, Politburo member and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen requested heads of the party committees at all levels in the city bear the highest level of responsibility for COVID-19 prevention and control; lead and direct the implementation of the Resolutions of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress; as well as continuing to seriously implement the implementation of Resolution No.4 of the 11th and 12th tenure, regarding building and rectifying the Party.
