Hanoi’s leader receives Order of Merit of Italy

VTV.vn - Authorised by the President of the Republic of Italy,Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro presented the Order of Merit to Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee on November 23.

The event was part of the third Piazza Italia and the fourth World Week of Italian Cuisine held at the Ly Thai To Statue Square in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

The Order of Merit is the senior order of Italy to foreign individuals who made important contributions to the development of the relations between the two countries in general and for Italy in particular.

Speaking at the opening ceremony for the event, Chairman Chung said that following the success of Piazza Italia 2018, this year’s event aimed to further tighten the friendship between the capital city and Italian Embassy in Vietnam in particular and the diplomatic ties between the two nations in general.

According to Hanoi’s leader, the cultures of Vietnam and Italy have many similarities and the two countries are nations possessing many world’s famous cultural heritages.

Chairman Chung also emphasised that the sustainable development of Vietnam – Italy friendship was based on the cooperation after 46 years of diplomatic ties and six years of strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Piazza Italia has become an annual event, introducing masterpieces and embodiment of Italian culture, including the architecture, fashion, cuisine, music, cinema and sports.

Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro said that, the fourth World Week of Italian Cuisine was held worldwide from November 18-24.

Through the event, Vietnamese people had the chance to enjoy special food as well as the culinary culture of Italian people.
