Hanoi announces its top 10 culture and sports event of 2018

VTV.vn - The Hanoi city’s Department of Culture and Sports has announced the city’s top 10 culture and sports events in 2018 as follows:

1. A series of international cultural and sporting events held in the pedestrian zones around Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake to preserve and promote the values of intangible cultural heritages.

2. The 10th anniversary of Hanoi’s administrative boundary adjustment, marking the connection of the Thang Long and ‘Xu Doai’ cultures.

3. Two Codes of Conduct for Hanoians, which attracted the involvement of the entire political system from the city to grassroots levels, have generated initial encouraging results.

4. The first-ever Hanoi Food Culture Festival in October featured 26 booths selling specialties of the capital city.

5. Dong Da Mound (Dong Da district), So communal house (Quoc Oai district) and Tuong Phieu communal house (Phuc Tho district) were recognised as special national relic sites.

6. The renovation and diversification in activities to safeguard and uphold the value of the Temple of Literature special national relic site.

7. The successful organisation of the 2018 National Games in Hanoi, where the Hanoi sports delegation finished in first place.

8. Hanoi will become the 22nd city in the world to host Formula One Race in 2020.

9. Hanoi-based female athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao won the first gold medal for Vietnamese track and field in the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD 2018).

10. The first-ever dragon boat race in the city’s West Lake in February.
