Hai Phong opens Red Flamboyant Flower Festival to promote tourism, economy

Marking the 68th Liberation Day of Hai Phong's (May 13), the festival is themed "Hai Phong shines on the sea estuary" and had the attendance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in the opening ceremony.

In his opening address, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said the city treasures its cultural values and people, which are a driving force, an endogenous strength, and a source of energy of all developments.

Reviewing the 68-year tradition of the city, the city mayor said that Hai Phong has been focusing on building a transport system to expand its economic space and expand the city toward the sea and move the political-administrative center to the north of the Cam River by 2025.

The People's Committee Chairman said that its historical tradition and achievements are the premise and motivation for the city’s development. Hai Phong strives to lead national industrialization and modernization and “truly become the driving force of the whole country's development”, he added.

The Red Flamboyant Flower Festival, which has been held annually since 2012, is offering more than 120 events and activities across Hai Phong.
