Gold market heats up on God of wealth day

Legend has it that the God of Wealth returns to heaven on the 10th day of the new year, so Vietnamese have a tradition of buying gold for luck and prosperity throughout the year.

The Sài Gòn jewelry JSC listed the gold buying/selling price at VNĐ36.97/37.35 million per tael of SJC gold bar, up VND 30,000 for buying and selling. It is forecast that today the demand for gold will further increase, so the gap between buying and selling will widen.

Experts recommend people should at this time only buy gold for good luck rather than for investment because prices may fall.
