VTV.vn - The film ‘The Girl From Yesterday’ by director Phan Gia Nhat Linh will compete in the ‘World Fantastic Blue’ category of the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) 2017 held in the Republic of Korea from July 13-23.

The ‘World Fantastic Blue’ category serves as a general introduction to films from accessible genres including drama, comedy and romance for the NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Award.

‘The Girl From Yesterday’ is about school, boys and girls, and their stories of love and compassion. It is based on the novel of the same name by Nguyen Nhat Anh, a best-selling author in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Nhat Anh is a popular author among children, teenagers and adults. His well-known novels recently published include Toi la Beto (I am Beto); Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho (A ticket back to childhood); Dao Mong Mo (Dream Island); and Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh (I see yellow flowers on green grass). Anh was honoured with the Southeast Asian Writer Award last year for the book Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho (A ticket back to childhood).

Launched in 1997, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival is an international film festival held annually in July in Bucheon, South Korea.

The festival focuses on South Korean and international horror, thriller, mystery and fantasy films, with particular attention paid to Asian cinema from East Asia and Southeast Asia.
