Cong Phuong is one of the most expected players on the Vietnamese side. During the home clash with Malaysia a few days ago, the Sint-Truidense FC forward fought actively, helping the Golden Dragons to produce a dominant match against the Malayan Tigers.
Talking about the upcoming Indonesia game, Phuong admitted that: “It will be an away match for Vietnam, so there are certain difficulties, especially when we had to move constantly after finishing the Malaysia clash.
“However, the whole team always aim for a win in any match. Today, the coaching staff have pointed out Indonesia’s strong and weak points to us to get well-prepared for the encounter,” he said.
Commenting on the news that Indonesia have called up naturalised centre-back Otavio Dutra for the Vietnam clash, Phuong stressed that he did not fear the 1.90m-tall player at all.
“It doesn't matter which defender they use. When I play well, everything goes well. My objective is to make the squad tomorrow and to play well. As for Vietnam, every game is alike as our ultimate goal is a victory. I would like to thank fans for constantly supporting the team,” he affirmed.
Excluding midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh, whose playing possibility is still left open, all the Vietnamese players are now ready for the clash against Indonesia. This afternoon, Park Hang-seo’s troops will have an official training session at Bali’s Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, the hosting venue of the match.
