Addressing a New Year meeting with local media in Hanoi on January 14, the Deputy PM said more and more journalists not only report news but also write analytical articles to help readers understand the main messages of the country’s external activities and foreign policy.
On behalf of the foreign ministry, he thanked press agencies for their valuable cooperation.
He said the workload in 2020 will be heavy when Vietnam chairs the ASEAN and serves as a non-permanent member of United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021, so he hoped to receive more cooperation from press agencies in covering fully external activities.
On behalf of press agencies, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Le Quoc Minh congratulated the foreign ministry on its proud accomplishments in 2019.
In the context that a lot of fake news and false information about the Party and State’s guidelines appear, press agencies with the experience of senior reporters and the dynamic of young reporters, in combination with the press’ modern technology and creativity, will work to disseminate accurate information to bring Vietnam to the world and bring the world into Vietnam, he added.
On this occasion, Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh presented the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to four outstanding collectives and three individuals in recognition of their active contributions to the success of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Solidarity Year and Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year.
Two collectives and two individuals were honoured with the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit for their roles in the preparation for and successful organisation of the second summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US and the welcoming of DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump.
