Flag-raising ceremony to mark ASEAN establishment

At 7:30 am Hanoi time, the ASEAN flag was raised, reflecting the shared values and commitments of people in the region.

It is a mixture of blue, red, white, and yellow with a bundle of ten rice trunks in the middle to show the friendship, solidarity, and unity among member countries and the desire for peace and prosperity of the whole block.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh said Vietnam considers ASEAN a priority in its external policy and the country's 23 years of membership in the bloc is closely associated with important milestones in its regional and international integration process.

Vietnam will continue working with other member nations to effectively implement the ASEAN Community Vision to 2025 in the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, and creativity and with the extensive involvement and active contributions of people from all social strata, he affirmed.
