VTV.vn - The Vietnam Physics Association (VPA) held a ceremony at the Hanoi National University of Education on November 6 to celebrate the first Vietnam Physics Day (November 6).

According to VPA Chairman Nguyen Dai Hung, in 1966, the Government approved the establishment of the association to promote the research, teaching, and application of physics in facilitating the national construction and defence.

In 1971, the association organised the first Physics Conference at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Since then, the conference has been held every five years to develop strategies and plans with the aim to boost science and technology, basic research, and especially physics.

The association has chosen November 6 as the Vietnam Physics Day to encourage and promote the research and training of physics, strengthen scientific cooperation, and increase the interest and passion for physics among students and the public.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Physics Association awarded the ‘Promising Young Physicist’ award to Dr. Cao Hoang Nam, a lecturer from Hanoi-based Phenikaa University.

This award is given every two years, starting from 2021, to a physicist under 40 years old who has gained outstanding achievements in basic research, technology development and application, training, and teaching of physics.
