First Vietnam candidate for UNESCO Director General
VTV.vn- Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau, head of the Foreign Ministry's Culture and UNESCO Department, entered an interview for the position of Director General of United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) at its headquarter.

Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau is one of nine candidates running for the position for the 2017-2021 tenure.

The interview last over 90 minutes and was broadcast live online. Pham Sanh Chau's contest begins with the introduction of the ambassador in 10 minutes, in which he emphasised 3 basic points. These were peace, change, and better enforcement and communications for UNESCO.

The General Director of UNESCO should understand United Nations' structure well, worked for UNESCO for a certain number of years, have good communication and debating skills, have management and leading experience in their country and be fluent in English and French. The director-general can be re-appointed for another 4-year tenure.

The result of the interviews will be tabled at a meeting of UNESCO General Conference at the end of this year for the final decision.
