First polls of Canadian national election closed

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party had won 153 of 338 seats, according to preliminary results from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The Conservative Party, led by Andrew Scheer, won 121 seats, ensuring that Trudeau will remain the prime minister of Canada.There is a likelihood that Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party would retain power but as a minority government with the backing of the New Democratic Party or NDP.

It was the first of six time zones stretching across the country, and voting stations close at different times. About 27.4 million Canadians are eligible to vote this year.
