In an effort to spot individuals with talent, unique personalities, and high potential, the organizing committee launched a recruitment campaign in mid-April. More than just a competition, the program serves as a launchpad for young talents to secure roles in VTV’s official sports productions. The best candidates will be featured as commentators or guest analysts throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026™ across all Vietnam Television platforms.
The competition is open Vietnamese football fans aged 18 to 35 who are in good health and presentable. In addition to a strong passion for football, applicants should have a clear, expressive voice and no speech impairments. A solid background in politics, culture, and history, as well as proficiency in foreign languages , and the ability to independently create digital content are considered pluses during the selection process.
The preselection round is held online. Candidates must submit registration forms and a 3-5 minute demo. The video requires contestants to showcase their commentary skills and passion while covering an international football match. Submissions must be in horizontal format with a minimum resolution of Full HD.
Nearly three weeks after announcing the contest across VTV’s digital ecosystem, the organizing committee received hundreds of applications. Following the review of demo videos, 23 contestants were shortlisted for the next phase. On the morning of May 8, they were interviewed at the network and took live voice tests, during which each contestant drew a random topic ato showcase their commentary skills.

Following his audition, contestant Nguyen Quang Tienshared similar sentiments: “Despite preparing as thoroughly as possible, I think I didn't perform to my full potential.”

Prior to entering the contest, contestant Van Chi Vi had a background in esports commentary. However, he noted football commentary offers a unique thrill: “Even though I have experience with game commentary, football provides a completely different experience.”
