Fabric painting illustrates Vietnamese culture
VTV.vn - While painting a picture on paper may be a difficult and lengthy process in its own right, it’s rather a more complicated and time-consuming process when painting on fabric, especially on clothing.

Painting has been a passion for painter Nguyen Thi Vinh ever since she was a child. Completing a painted dress like this requires no small amount of skill and patience.

Together with Vinh, Huyen Ngoc, and Thu Hương created Paint-A-Dress - a store specialising in painted dresses that promote traditional values. Their business ethos is rooted in a passion for art, and a shared dream of bringing Vietnamese culture to foreign friends.

These students are sketching out their designs. They choose the best fabric for painting on made from tightly woven 100% cotton, and apply light layers of oils or acrylics.

Inspired by familiar everyday scenes, the artwork on this dress was created by Dao Minh Phuong. The well-known Quan Chuong Gate in Hanoi has also been transferred onto fabric.

Among digital and printed works, painted creations carry significant value. Each dress here delivers an additional message about the value of traditional cultures.
