VTV.vn - 48 artworks on the theme war are being showcased in the exhibition titled The Unforgettable Years. The event is organised by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, as part of activities to celebrate the War Veteran's Day on July 27th.

Two portraits, one of a Vietnamese soldier, the other, a nurse of the Xê Đăng ethnicity, were painted in 1970. The painter, Hà Xuân Phong, died fighting in 1974 in Quảng Nam Province.

Another artwork which was highly praised is the sculpture of a disabled veteran by Phạm Mười.

Painter Le Ngoc Han said: Phạm Mười has put himself in the shoes of a disabled veteran. He understands their sorrow and pains.

48 art pieces are being showcased at the event. They depict the brutality and devastation of war, yet are still full of hope, through images of the soldiers' families and their relationship with civilians.

Painter Tran Khanh Chuong said: Seeing these artworks, which we haven't seen for a long time, makes me feel very emotional. The younger generations have a chance to see how we lived and fought like in the past.

The exhibition lasts until July 30th. The artworks not only have high artistic value, they also help people appreciate the sacrificed war veterans made.
