Doctors successfully conduct two organ transplants

VTV.vn - Surgeons have successfully performed heart and liver transplant surgery from a brain-dead donor in Viet-Duc Hospital in Hanoi on September 6. The heart and liver were preserved during transportation to Hanoi.

While the team was on the plane, medical staff at the hospital completed the removal of the decayed liver and heart for new transplantations. After 7 hours, the surgery finished and after 24 hours, the two recipients recovered. The heart recipient is a 60 year old man who suffered heart strain and the liver recipient is a 40 year old man who has liver cancer. These are the 25th liver and the 11th heart transplant operations carried out using brain-dead donors at the Viet Duc Hospital.
