VTV.vn - Minister of Defence, General Ngo Xuan Lich had a working visit to the Commando Arm on December 20, on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of Vietnamese People’s Army and the 31st Whole-People Defence Festival.

While applauding the achievements made by officers and soldiers of the force in recent years, the Defence Minister asked the force to focus on enhancing their fighting capacity and preparedness for combat, while keeping close watch on the situation in their stationed areas in order to fulfil their assigned tasks.

He stressed that the Party Committee and High Command of the force to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement military and defence strategies, as well as the resolution of the 11th Congress of the Army's Party Organisation in a bid to build the Commando Arm into a strong force deserving of the Party, State, army and people’s trust.

At the event, General Ngo Xuan Lich presented a painting of President Ho Chi Minh to the High Command of the Commando Arm.

On December 19, a working group of the Central Military Commission and Defence Ministry led by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, who is also Deputy Chairman of the General Political Department of the Vietnamese People's Army, visited and presented gifts to army units stationed in Ha Giang Province.

The working group also offered gifts to local disadvantaged households and paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Vi Xuyen Martyrs Cemetery in Vi Xuyen District.
