VTV.vn - A communication campaign named ‘Blue Heart’ was launched on July 5 to raise public awareness of the increased risks of violence against children and women in Vietnam and call for actions.

The campaign is a joint effort by Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), UNICEF, and the Australian Government.

The campaign calls for further attention and support from the community to create an environment free of violence in the family, at school, in the community and on the internet.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Hanoi, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam Rana Flowers called on people to stand together and raise their voices that violence against women and children is never acceptable.

She stressed that the initiative calls on citizens, lawmakers and governments to speak out more strongly against violence, asking societies and communities have zero tolerance against violence against women and children.

Sharing the same view, MOLISA Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that only by working together, we can become stronger in putting forward solutions and making more practical actions to end violence against women and children.

She said that the Vietnamese Government has made a ceaseless effort to end violence against women and children, and paid special attention to addressing the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on people’s lives.
