His name is Yang Hengjun, 54 years old, born in China and then obtaining Australian citizenship in 2002. Mr Jang is a political analyst and had worked in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After that, he worked as a journalist and blogger. Mr. Yang was arrested on January 19th in Guangzhou (China) and the official decision to arrest was released on August 23rd. Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said he had contacted his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi several times to express Australia's concerns about the arrest. The crime of espionage may be subject to the death penalty in China.
