Chilean journalists supported Vietnam’s stance on East Sea
VTV.vn - The Vietnamese embassy and the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute have held a meeting with Chilean journalists to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector (August 28).

Addressing the meeting, President of the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute Patricia Abarzua briefed participants on the South East Asian situation, and the relationship between ASEAN nations and Chile. She laid stress on recent disputes over sovereignty in the East Sea as well as its impact on the Latin American region in general and Chile in particular.

For his part, Vietnamese ambassador to Chile Ngo Duc Thang reviewed achievements of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector and answered journalists’ questions on the East Sea issue. He affirmed the Vietnamese Party, State and Government’s stance of resolving the East Sea disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, maintaining the status quo, not deepening the regional tension and soon building a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

Chilean journalists supported Vietnam’s stance and raised concern over possible conflicts which might make a negative impact on Chile’s trade ties with the South East Asian nations.
