Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen made the remarks at a meeting with outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Quang Minh in Phnom Penh on July 3.
According to a number of local websites, on the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked Ambassador Vu Quang Minh for his efforts in completing his diplomatic term in Cambodia, contributing to tightening the two countries' relations.
Ambassador Vu Quang Minh expressed his pleasure and honour for holding the position of Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia for more than three years. Minh said that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have developed well, while trade and investment cooperation in particular is expanding strongly.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, import and export revenue between the two countries reached US$4.59 billion in the first five months of 2021, up 112% over the same period in 2020 despite the pandemic.
It is expected that import and export revenue between Vietnam and Cambodia will hit US$5.3 billion in the first six months of 2021, equivalent to the revenue of entire 2020.
In parallel with promoting economic and trade relations, the two countries have also regularly coordinated and supported each other in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cambodian Ministry of Health has organised vaccination against the pandemic for diplomats and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia.
Vietnam also donated 800 ventilators, two million medical masks and 300,000 N95 masks to the Government and people of Cambodia in May 2021 while the country was trying to combat the wave of COVID-19 infection in the community.
