Bac Lieu to become a shrimp production hub

This is a starting point for fulfilling Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's request to make shrimp production a key industry in Vietnam's agriculture sector in order to reach an export value of 10 billion USD by 2025.

Nearly 20 years ago, the land in Phước Long commune, Phước Long District in Bac Liêu Province was filled with salt and alkaline. Farmers could only plan one rice harvest a year. This is no longer a problem since the inter-cropping method was implemented with one rice harvest between two shrimp harvests. This method helps farmers earn an annual income of 2600 USD per hectare.
