VTV.vn - A wide range of cultural and arts activities have been held across the country to mark the 75th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2020).

An exhibition entitled ‘Doc Lap’ (Independence) opened at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi on the morning of August 31, displaying 100 photos and documents highlighting Vietnamese people’s aspiration for independence and freedom.

Works in display also include valuable historical documents, including President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence, which was read by him at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam).

The exhibition will last until September 30 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, 19C Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh District.

Meanwhile in Ho Chi Minh City, a display of books is taking place at Nguyen Van Binh Book Street, introducing readers to publications on assorted topics including President Ho Chi Minh, the August Revolution, the Vietnamese People’s Army, and the national construction and development process.

Visitors to the event can also join in lucky draws with gifts of books on President Ho and the country’s history of liberation and defence.

A special arts programme entitled ‘Loi The Doc Lap’ (Oath of Independence) will be staged at 8:05 PM, September 2, and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television’s Channel 1 to mark National Day.

The programme will feature reportages, stories shared by historical witnesses, songs, and dances chronicling from the 1990s, when Vietnamese people lived under harsh colonial rule, to President Ho Chi Minh’s journey to seek a way for national salvation, and the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national independence.
