VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Association in the Republic of Korea (RoK) convened a congress in Seoul on April 13 to review its performance during the 2017-2019 tenure and set forth operation orientations for the new term.

Nguyen Ngoc Cam, the association’s president, reported that the association organised various activities over the past time, attracting the participation of crowds of Vietnamese in the country.

She took the examples of cultural and sport events, along with Vietnamese language classes for children of Vietnamese-Korean families and support to victims of natural disasters in the homeland.

Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador to the RoK Tran Truong Thuy highly valued achievements the association has recorded over the past tenure, saying it has contributed to connecting Vietnamese in the RoK, promoting the image of Vietnamese in the host country, and consolidating relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, the association was presented with a certificate of merit in recognition of its contributions to the community and the homeland.

The congress elected a 25-member executive board of the association for the 2019-2021 period. Cam was re-elected as president of the association in the new term.

She said that the association will open more Vietnamese language classes and continue to organise sport and cultural activities for Vietnamese in the RoK in 2019, while assisting those who are in difficult circumstances.
