A profoundly humane reality TV program loved by many viewers.
VTV.vn - The episode titled “The Fertile Land”, aired at 20:10 on Saturday, April 5, 2025, tells one of the “post-war reunions ” stories.

Marking its return on VTV1, As If There Were No Separation recounts the story of a woman who, 50 years after the war ended, returned to her homeland—a fertile area along the Vu Gia River in Dai Loc, Quang Nam. The little girl who once left her home has now returned as a woman in her sixties, weary from a lifetime of longing to be reunited with her family.

Throughout 2025, VTV viewers will continue to follow touching stories of separation and reunion each month. A beautiful love story torn apart by war. A girl taken to China by her birth mother  finally reunited with her father and siblings through the program, only to learn that her mother had been imprisoned for human trafficking. A five-year-old boy who was lost while attending the first Peaceful Mid-Autumn Festival in 1975 with his brother, was finally reunited with his family. Children of Vietnamese descent who grew up abroad under various circumstances are gradually returning to find their birth mothers, to learn who they are and where they came from.

One of the emotional reunions is successfully orchestrated by the program.

In response to VTV's support and the love of the audience, As If There Were No Separation is working harder than ever to identify missing persons and organize faster reunions. The program is also producing high-quality broadcasts with improved visuals. The return to VTV is a major opportunity to reach out to those still separated from their loved ones and help them find their families. It also allows the public better to understand the meaningful work behind this volunteer initiative and join hands to create more miracles of reunion.

As If There Were No Separation premiered on VTV1 on December 1, 2007. For 10 years, viewers have been accustomed to gathering on the first Saturday evening of each month to watch heart-wrenching stories of separation, deeply emotional searches, and tearful reunions.

In 2018, the program moved to VTV9 and other television channels. Younger viewers began to follow the show more on social media platforms. However, many longtime viewers, especially the elderly and those living far from urban areas, believed the program had stopped and expressed great regret.

Meanwhile, the mission of searching for and reuniting Vietnamese families has continued. The team behind the program has carried out the highly specialized work of searching and telling stories through images and seeks donations from individual benefactors to sustain its operations.
