Argentine students learn about Vietnam

VTV.vn - Students of the University of Buenos Aires’ legal department were introduced about Vietnam’s history, culture and socio-economic development at a talk on September 3.

The talk was held by the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV) in conjunction with the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina on the occasion of Vietnam’s 71 st National Day (September 2).

Addressing the event, ICAV President Poldi Sosa said Vietnam’s August Revolutionary and National Day were an encouragement for colonial peoples across the world to rise up for national independence, democracy and social progress.

Prof. Ezequiel Ramoneda from the National University of La Plata reviewed Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and reunification as well as the country’s achievements in regional and international integration, especially its contributions to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

A representative of the Vietnamese Embassy said Vietnam’s economy grows at about 7 percent annually. The country is striving to reach the upper-middle-income status by 2035.

Vietnam has also enhanced its cooperation and friendship with many countries worldwide, he noted.

On this occasion, the participating students had a chance to watch films capturing Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and consequences of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin the country has suffered from the war.
