The southern province of An Giang will coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City and other localities in the south to launch tourism stimulus programmes with the aim of restoring the tourism sector as the COVID-19 outbreak has now been brought under control, according to Director of the An Giang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Khanh Hiep.
New tourism products will be launched with the aim of promoting the quality, service and image of An Giang tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.
Tourism and service businesses in the province are also committed to implementing stimulus packages such as price reductions on sightseeing tickets, services and accommodation.
The Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is focusing on ensuring safe tourism destinations, building preferential new packages for tourists during the final months of the year.
The province currently has 97 standard tourist accommodations; 13 domestic and international tour operators; and 15 tourism attractions.
In the first eight months of 2020, revenue from tourism activities of An Giang was estimated at over VND3 trillion VND, down 34% over the same period last year, reaching 77% of the set plan for 2020.
