VTV.vn - From May 12th to 17th, ambassadors from Argentina, Sweden, Italy, the UK, the Czech Republic, as well as the US Assistant Secretary of State and consul general are taking an excursion into Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest natural grotto.

The trip was approved by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Commission for UNESCO.  A representative from Quang Binh Province hopes that the tourism industry will be boosted after the ambassadors’ visit. Son Doong is part of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Bố Trạch District. Since the beginning of this year, 216 trekkers have visited the site. The cave was discovered in 1991, but only became internationally-known in 2009 after a group of scientists from the British Cave Research Association conducted a survey in the area.
