Activities pay tribute to national contributors
VTV.vn - Various activities are being held across the nation to pay tribute to wounded soldiers and beneficiary families on the occasion of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27).

A delegation from Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper offeredincense and flowers to pay tribute to youth volunteers and war martyrs at the Truong Bon national historical site, My Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province, on July 26, as part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the realisation of the President's testament (1969-2019) and the 72nd anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27).

On the occasion, Thuan Huu, who is a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Communication and Education Commission, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, presented 14 savings books (worth VND 10 million each) to 13 families of youth volunteers and war martyrs sacrificed in Truong Bon and to Tran Thi Thong, who is former squad leader of Thep (Steel) Squad; two gratitude houses (worth VND 70 million each) to disadvantaged policy beneficiary families in Do Luong district; and VND 120 million to support the Management Board of Truong Bon national historical site.

On the same day, at the Road 9 National Martyr's Cemetery in Quang Tri province, an art programme paying tribute to national contributors was organised. The event was attended by PCC members Nguyen Ngoc Thien (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and Nguyen Van Hung (Secretary of the Quan Tri Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province) and representatives of leaders of relevant departments and agencies.

At the programme, the organising board handed out savings books, worth VND 5 million each, and gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and policy beneficiary families of the province. Earlier, a candle burning ceremony to pay tribute to fallen soldiers at Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery was organised.

In addition, a wide variety of practical and meaningful activities have been held in many provinces across the country, including Hau Giang, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Thua Thien – Hue, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Thanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Kien Giang and Da Nang, to pay tribute to national contributors on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27).
