Action month for labor safety and hygiene launched
Delegates at the launch ceremony of the action month for labor safety and hygiene and the Workers’ Month 2022.
VTV.vn - The action month for labour safety and hygiene and the Workers’ Month 2022 were launched in Hanoi, on April 28.

The Central Steering Committee for the Action month for labour safety and hygiene in collaboration with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) held the launching ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, and members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Head of the Central Steering Committee for Action month for labour safety and hygiene Dao Ngoc Dung; VGCL President Nguyen Dinh Khang; representatives of ministries, departments, branches, workers as well as labourers nationwide.

With the determination to control occupational accidents and diseases, the Government launched the Action month for labour safety and hygiene with the theme "Strengthening measures to reduce risks in labour safety and hygiene, improving working conditions at the workplace, adapting safely, flexibly to and effectively controlling the COVID-19 epidemic".

The VGCL also launched Workers' Month 2022 with the theme "Vietnamese workers: Pioneering, innovative, responsible, safe, adaptive".

In order to operate effectively, VGCL President Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that trade unions, union members and workers nationwide focus on performing a number of tasks such as raising awareness about the purpose, meaning, and activities of Workers' Month; selecting and effectively implementing the orientations for the 10 planned activities and four key activities under the guidance of the Presidium of the VGCL on organising Workers' Month in association with the implementation of action month for labour safety and hygiene 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Tran Tuan Anh emphasised: The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) determined that to achieve the task of building a safe society, building a modern and strong working class is one of the key contents, which focusing on taking care of the material and spiritual life, housing and social welfare of workers; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers in order to realise and concretise contents in labour safety and hygiene. Therefore, improving the working conditions of workers needs to be focused on regularly and continuously. This is a common responsibility of the whole political system and society as a whole. It requires the attention of and implementation by all levels of Party committees, organisations, sectors, businesses and workers.

Tran Tuan Anh also emphasised: The Central Steering Committee for Action month for labour safety and hygiene and the VGCL need to strengthen their close coordination in directing the organisation to improve the effectiveness of activities during the action month for the labour safety and hygiene and the Workers’ Month.
