Of the total, nearly 57,000 labourers have been helped to go work abroad, Diep said at the ministry’s recent press conference on the implementation of social and labour policies.
In the period, the ministry carried out a programme on providing and ensuring stable employment for female workers, especially those aged above 35 in industrial zones.
In the first five months, the number of newly-established enterprises in Vietnam rose by 3.5 percent year-on-year to 52,322, with total registered capital of 516.9 trillion VND (22.77 billion USD).
Large numbers of new enterprises were seen in wholesale and retail, repair of cars and motorcycles, processing and manufacturing and construction.
Twelve sectors saw an increase in new enterprises in the period, with the real estate trading sector seeing the highest growth at 41.1 percent.
