VTV.vn - The National Fund for Vietnamese Children and Novartis Vietnam Co., Ltd., jointly held a symposium and signed a cooperation agreement to raise awareness and strengthen support for children with spinal muscular atrophy in Vietnam.

Accordingly, from December this year, a project with a budget of more than 8.1 billion VND to raise awareness and strengthen support for children with spinal muscular atrophy in Vietnam, will be implemented in 3 years. The programme is expected to contribute to reducing the burden of spinal muscular atrophy - a rare disease leading to death in the group of diseases with genetic aetiology in children, throughout the world and the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said, with common goals for public health, especially children - the future generation of the country, the agreement is the result of the process of exchange and agreement between the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and Novartis Vietnam Company. This meaningful project is the premise for further cooperation in supporting children with special and difficult circumstances.

Deputy Director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children Dinh Tien Hai believed that the cooperation project with Novartis Vietnam will contribute to reducing the burden of the disease on patients, their families and the whole society. The programme will help improve the knowledge necessary for everyone, especially those of childbearing age, to understand the disease, and quickly diagnose and treat it in time, to minimise the severe consequences of spinal muscular atrophy.
