Taking place from June 19 to 20 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, the forum was held as part of the 2025 National Press Festival. The event brought together nearly 70 speakers, comprising leaders, experts, and esteemed journalists, as well as hundreds of delegates from the media nationwide.
Throughout 12 specialized sessions, the forum tackled a wide range of vital topics, including: Vietnamese Journalism in the New Era: A Vision for Creating Growth Spaces; Female Leadership in Journalism: Women’s Voices in Newsroom Management; Winning Over Gen Z Readers: Decoding the Success Formula; Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Transformation Strategy of Vietnamese Newsrooms; and Revenue in the Digital Era: Beyond Advertising, Journalism Must Sell More!
Some of the most notable discussion sessions takes place during this year’s Forum.
A key highlight was the thoughtful analysis which addressed pressing challenges such as workforce development, operational restructuring, and financial models in contemporary journalism. Notably, the implementation of Resolution 18, which aimed to reform press organization structures, sparked an in-depth discussion.
In addition to the main sessions, the forum also featured a technology showcase area. There, major media organizations demonstrated modern tools like AI, big data applications, and virtual reality, providing a vivid picture of journalism’s ongoing transformation.
The forum's diversity was further enriched by side activities, including a photojournalism exhibition, interactive experiences, networking opportunities for young journalists, and cultural and sports programs.
In his closing speech, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Communication and Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, praised the dedication and contributions of the nearly 70 speakers.

He acknowledged the intensity behind the scenes, noting that some discussion materials were revised just hours before the presentations and that some speakers had to leave immediately afterward to attend to other duties.
He also highlighted the enthusiastic participation and sense of responsibility shown by the hundreds of attendees, including editors-in-chief, press managers, journalists, journalism students, and media enthusiasts. “All of these contributions created a highly impactful National Press Forum 2025, featuring 12 well-curated sessions. Notably, 10 thematic discussion panels were professionally and scientifically organized, addressing highly topical issues with rich and diverse content that captured the strong interest of both the journalism community and the general public”, Mr. Le Quoc Minh said.
He emphasized that, while global digitalization, AI, and globalization are posing unprecedented challenges to Vietnamese journalism, they also present significant opportunities, provided that the industry proactively adapts and embraces innovation.
The 10th discussion session focuses on the topic “Resolution 18 and the need for personnel reform in journalism”.
One key concern discussed was the rise of video content on social media and the growing trend of personalized news consumption. These two factors are reshaping the operations and models of traditional journalism.
Organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists Association and major media outlets, the forum not only celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press but also laid the foundation for an annual platform for strategic discussions on the future of journalism in Vietnam.
