VTV.vn - The 2019 Cultural Heritage and Tourism Festival themed “Cultural heritage in the development of tourism culture" was opened in Hanoi on the evening of November 21.

The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts and Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, and Gia Lai provinces and Ho Chi Minh City in order to celebrate the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).

Director of the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts Nguyen Dang Chuong said that with the participation of more than 56 units, the festival features distinguished cultural heritage and tourism development potential for regions across the country.

In addition to the exhibition space, artists and artisans will participate in performances and cultural and artistic exchanges to introduce to visitors about the diversity of Vietnamese traditional art forms.

Chuong emphasised that the festival is the occasion for the public to get a deeper understanding about the thousand-year history of Vietnam, thus, raising their awareness of preserving and promoting national heritage values.

Various exhibitions will be held during the week-long festival including a photo exhibition showcasing 100 photos on Vietnamese heritage and an exhibition space highlighting typical heritage values of each Vietnamese locality and favourite tourism destinations.

The festival will also introduce 33 traditional craft occupations which were recognised as national intangible cultural heritage such as Dai Bat bronze, Bat Trang pottery, Dai Nghiep fine art wood, Hue royal costumes, Dong Ho folk painting, Quat Dong embroidery, and others.
