Mau Son peak covered in frost, temperature sink to -2oC

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the temperature also fell to 0^oC along with heavy rains at the Phia Oac mountain peak in the northern province of Cao Bang.

In the northern provinces, temperature during the day continued to drop sharply to 8^oC in Sapa, Lao Cai province, 11^oC in Hanoi and roughly 4^oC at the Meo Vac mountainous district and 4.5^oC at the Trung Khanh District in Cao Bang Province.

Temperatures tumbled to 10-13^oC in the lowlands and in the midlands in the northern region.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said the cold spell will also be felt in central and south central provinces.

In the northern localities alone, temperatures will continue to plunge with frost and snow in the mountainous areas from January 23 to January 27.
