“Changes need to be made to all organisations in the world including ASEAN. We need to start from the little things to the big things to save the earth. We’re not big countries, we need to unite to achieve greater successes.”
The opinion was aired by a Filipino representative at the conclusion of the event. However, some said that protecting the environment is the responsibility of every country. The debate included the participation of 3 teams, comprising of children from 7 ASEAN member countries: Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos and Vietnam.
The 2 main topics of the debate is Can ASEAN Super Leaders be the superman for the environment? and Can young leaders spread the idea of protecting the environment?. Environmental protection is not only a national or regional priority but also a global one. Participants at the event expressed a focus on how the idea of protecting the environment is spread in the community and put into actions.
At the forum as well as the ASEAN Children Festival, these young citizens also had a chance to know more about children in other ASEAN member countries, which strengthens the solidarity of the ASEAN community.
Art Gala of ASEAN Children Festival will be live broadcasted on VTV1 at 20h10 on June 1st.
