Vietnam, Russia cooperate to apply new bio-technology in agriculture
VTV.vn - In recent years, Vietnam has been paying special attention to the application of biotechnology in agriculture. This is also a new sector of cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.

A scientific conference named “Russia’s new biotechnology and its application in Vietnam’s agriculture” was held in Hanoi on Thursday. The event drew the participation of more than 30 enterprises, scientists and policy makers from Vietnam and Russia.

Biotech products, ozone applications used to improve the growth of plants and livestock.

These are some of the new Russian biotechnologies that can be applied to agricultural production that enterprises introduced at the event. Russian enterprises also expressed their willingness to support Vietnam in applying these technologies in agriculture.

Artem Giukov, Director of Seismic Technology Company, Russia said: “We brought here the biological hybrid system for wastewater treatment. The technology helps to treat wastewater of different origins. We are looking for Vietnamese partners and will consider different forms of cooperation, including equipment production in Vietnam.

Galina Koneva, SibAgroPribor Company said: “Our company provides technology to supervise agricultural products. We participated in an expo held in Vietnam last year and our products have been used in Vietnamese agriculture. But that is just the beginning. We want to cooperate further with Vietnam”.

The scale of agricultural land in Vietnam is among the smallest in the world, averaging less than 0.25 hectares per person. Vietnam’s agriculture is facing severe consequences from climate change and excessive land exploitation, including environmental pollution and the spread of disease. In this context, the application of science and technology to raise agricultural productivity and meet environmental requirements is important.

Nguyen Xuan Luu, Head of Binh Khe Co-Operative, Dong Trieu Town, Quang Ninh Province said: “Besides focusing on how to produce safe products, we pay special attention to environmental issues. We are shifting to raising pigs under safety standards”.

The cooperation between Vietnamese and Russian scientists, and enterprises in biotech application is expected to help boost safe Vietnamese agricultural products. This is also a potentially strong sector for both countries.
