Irrigation planning for shrimp sector

To achieve this target, localities have agreed that upgrading the water irrigation system, especially in the Mekong Delta region, will be the first and foremost solution.

In 2016, the three key provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Kien Giang had nearly 190,000 hectares of shrimp deaths. These losses have affected the growth of localities. For this reason, restructuring the sector, especially the irrigation system, is the main solution to reach the targeted export value of US $10 billion.
