VTV.vn - Da Nang city authorities have raised the level of COVID-19 prevention and control in local businesses and industrial parks to new heights after a new infection case, a mechanic, was detected on the afternoon of June 20.

In the past three days, Da Nang has reported 34 new cases positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Facing the complicated developments of the new outbreaks, the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control requested the strengthening of the supervision of goods, passengers and vehicles in to and out of local industrial zones, while setting up checkpoints outside industrial zones and hi-tech parks to monitor and inspect epidemic prevention and control work.

A chemical army has carried out large-scale disinfection of all venues at high risk of infection in Thanh Khe district.

On the same day, Ho Chi Minh City injected 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for workers in the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in District 7. These were the first doses given to local workers by the city out of a total of 78,000 doses allocated by the HCM City Department of Health to local EPZs, IZs and hi-tech zones. The vaccination process was carried out safely and in compliance with regulations.

Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son inspected the preparations for vaccination against COVID-19 at the Pouyuen Vietnam Company in Binh Tan district, HCM City. About 56,000 workers at the company will be vaccinated across 100 injection venues from today, June 21.

After four days of implementing a large-scale COVID-19 testing programme, Ha Tinh province has collected 154,781 test samples for eight priority groups, with all samples negative for SARS-CoV-2, exceeding the set target.

In Vinh City, Nghe An province, on June 19 and 20, a chemical army from Military Region 4 sprayed disinfectant on main roads, office buildings, schools, hospitals, markets, bus stations, amusement parks, restaurants, hotels and crowded areas.

Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen has examined and worked with Nghe An province on its COVID-19 prevention work. Tuyen suggested the province organise training for lower levels and thoroughly implement strict COVID-19 prevention measures. The province needs to step up screening tests, while continuing to improve its testing capacity. The construction of local field hospitals requires the requisitioning of local health centres, based on the available facilities and human resources, then upgrading and adding specific treatment areas. Nghe An Provincial General Hospital was asked to maximise its capacity to treat critically ill patients and absolutely not allow cross-infection in the hospital.

The Hanoi Department of Health has requested local hospitals assigned to treat COVID-19 patients continue strictly complying with the criteria of safe hospitals according to Decision No. 3088/QĐ-BYT of the Ministry of Health, focusing on strictly managing patients, avoiding cross-infection, and implementing early isolation and testing for suspected cases, as well as reviewing the process of receiving, classifying and screening patients and infection control procedures.

From 12:00 on June 20, Quang Ngai province will place all those returning from HCM City in concentrated isolation camps and apply home quarantine for 21 days for those coming back from Da Nang.

From June 20, Quang Binh province started taking random samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing for passengers on flights from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City to Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh for the early prevention of COVID-19. Accordingly, around 50% of passengers on each flight from HCM City will be tested.

On the same day, Tan Uyen town in Binh Duong province set up fences to block all entrances to Tan Phuoc Khanh ward in Tan Uyen town. The lockdown will last from 0:00 on June 20 until further notice. Currently, local functional forces are conducting tracing and collecting samples for nearly 10,000 people related to COVID-19 cases in the ward, home to nearly 50,000. After the blockade, all non-essential activities, non-essential production and service establishments, and banks are required to suspend operations. Tan Uyen authorities recommend local residents to stay at home, only going out in cases of real necessity such as buying food and medicine or in emergency cases.
