Tourism in Danang city increased by over 20% in recent years, both in revenue and the number of tourists. Tourists from China played a big role in this. However, experts have warned that the dominance of tourists from a single country will be very risky for the market.
Huynh Tanh Vinh, Chairman of Danang Tourism Association said: "We should diversify our markets and customers by encouraging airlines to open more direct routes to Danang. We should tightly control illegal tourism.
Currently, Chinese tourists account for 40% of international tourists in Danang. The surge of Chinese tourists in recent years has caused a number of problems with companies operating without Vietnamese tour guides and management. More than 10 cases have been recorded this year".
Ngo Quang Vinh, Director of Danang Department of Tourism said: "We’ll discuss with tour operators from South Korea, China and so on. We will also co-operate with authorities to enhance management. Especially with repeated offenders, we’ll work with the immigration department to ban them from entering Vietnam again".
Despite growth, a tourism industry which only focuses on a few markets will inevitably lead to problems for management. Only by adopting the solutions effectively and solve these issues, can Danang’s tourism develop sustainably.
