VTV.vn - Việt Nam Television’s channel 6 (VTV6, the youth channel) has become a site for digital natives, especially those born between the years 1985 and 2000.

Funny LunchDigital Natives News and Life of Digital Natives are three main shows to be produced with new technology aimed at smart phone and computer users.

"Audiences are no longer interested in television," said Đặng Diễm Quỳnh, head of VTV6 at the press conference held at VTV headquarters.

"Television shows are not good enough for young television watchers who now have many other concerns. Last August VTV leaders asked us to develop digital content," said Quỳnh.

Launched in 2014 Funny Lunch is the first television interactive show of VTV to combine traditional television and social networks. It enables young watchers to comment directly on fanpages while they are watching the show.

A new version of Funny Lunch was produced with the latest interactive technology. VTV6 is the first VTV’s channel to use this advanced technology to produce television programmes.

At 6.30pm every day, Digital Natives News will update news about life, culture and society to reflect the lifestyle of digital natives. It aims to connect young people by smartphone and computer. Young audiences who watch the show on smartphones or computers can follow the 90-minute show.

The show Life of Digital Native was launched in January 1 at 9.30pm. The show aims to appeal to the young audience with stories on how to make money, backpack tourism, entertainment, love and raising children.

Life of Digital Native also highlights the beauty of Vietnamese coasts and seas on Eastern Sea Travellers’ Note and Every Kilometre series. The series not only provides unique and eye-catching shots of Vietnamese seas, but also gives tips and experiences to encourage young audiences to explore the country and inspire their patriotism. The series is aired every Saturday.

Established in 2007 by VTV, VTV6 is the national television channel for Vietnamese youth. During 10 years of development, VTV6 has tried to lure young people to television, aiming to help them to overcome difficulties in life and make them more optimistic and confident.

"We want young television audiences to continue watching television by their favourite smartphone," Quỳnh said.
