Almost every family’s activity centres around the kitchen, where the whole family gather around a tray full of hot food and the children with their half-closed eyes listen to the adults’ stories about the past. Beside the warmth of a cozy fire, any guests visiting the hosts are invited to enjoy a bowl of corn wine. The kitchen also functions as a place to hang their smoked meats and corn harvest.
In addition to being a safe harbour from the cold winter, the kitchen is a source of light and the breath of warm life, showing a beautiful aspect of the traditional culture of ethnic minorities in the uplands.
