The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang.
Based on votes by the audience and the professional council, the organising board announced eleven awards in eleven categories. The most important awards, “Personality of the Year” and “Programme of the Year,” were presented to late musician and singer Tran Lap and the “Meeting at the End of the Year” programme, respectively.
The “Impressive MC” award went to editor Ngoc Trinh while artist Truong Giang received the “Impressive Comedian” award.
Actor Hong Dang from the film Zippo, mu tat va em (Zippo, Mustard and You) and actress Nha Phuong from the films Khuc hat mat troi (“Song of the Sun”) and Zippo, mu tat va em were honoured as Impressive Actor and Actress.
The “Impressive Topical Frame” award was presented to the clip “The Last Meeting with Mother before She Died of Cancer,” produced by the VTV’s Department of News.
Cap la yeu thuong (A Beloved Couple of Leaves) won the “Attractive Cultural, Social, Scientific and Education Programme”
The programme titled Cap la yeu thuong (A Beloved Couple of Leaves) won the “Attractive Cultural, Social, Scientific and Education Programme” award and Zippo, mu tat va em won Impressive Television Film.
The arts programme “Welcome 2016” was honoured as an attractive music programme. Little singer Ho Van Cuong, who was the champion of the 2016 Vietnam Idol Kids’ Competition, surpassed numerous other well-known nominees to receive the “Impressive Singer” award.
